Route 41 Lane Closure This Friday Between Highland Road, Route 10 For Traffic Pattern Change

This press release from PennDOT concerning the construction project along Route 41 south of the High School:

Slow travel is expected Friday (Feb. 3) on Route 41 in West Fallowfield Township, Chester County, when traffic is restricted to one lane between Route 10 and Highland Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to implement a traffic pattern, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.

PennDOT advises motorists to allow more time for travel along this stretch of Route 41 on Friday because backups will occur as crews move concrete barriers and paint new traffic lines. Flaggers will control the single-lane of traffic through the construction zone.

Crews will work Friday to move Route 41’s northbound and southbound travel lanes to the east side of the highway where crews are building a new bridge over Knights Run. The operation is weather dependent.

PennDOT’s contractor is building a new precast reinforced concrete arch culvert to replace the former structurally deficient bridge that was built in 1953. The bridge carries about 15,278 vehicles per day.

JJID Inc. of Bear, Del. is the general contractor on the $3,332,050 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds. The project is expected to be completed in June.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways before heading out.
