Point Celebrates Open House With 8 Area Churches

The Point’s mission is to assist the Church by providing a safe haven that offers the hope of the Gospel by addressing the spiritual, physical, emotional, and academic needs of the community.

This past Monday, The Point held an Open House both to introduce new churches to a unique ministry opportunity here at The Point AND to reconnect with churches that have already been engaged.

There were eight ministries represented: Beacon of Knowledge Ministries, Church of the Open Bible, Old Road Mennonite, Sandy Hill Community Church, New Life Church, Maple Grove Mennonite, Gateway Church, and Parkesburg Baptist Church.

We had in attendance roughly 40 adults, and to give the adults a feel for The Point, we also had 40 of our youth in attendance.

The night started at 6 p.m. with an introduction by Dwayne, followed by student Sandra Stewart singing “Amazing Grace.” Student Stanley Richey shared his story and how The Point has helped him along his way. Caleb Wilde shared The Point’s vision for our youth.

Pastor Kurt Hershey – the chairman of The Point’s board — shared about our Adopt-a-Night program, which is where a church body has the opportunity to adopt one night a month at The Point and to provide:

  • A meal for the youth.
  • A message for the youth.
  • Mentorship with the youth.

The Adopt-A-Night program is something that fits into our vision of “assisting the church.” We believe that The Point was birthed by the area church, will be sustained by the area church and our future will be based on the area church’s continuing support.

We need you for The Point’s vision to succeed!

On April 16th at 6:00 PM we’ll be hosting another Open House and we hope you can make it!
