The article stresses these are preliminary budgets, “that, in many cases, will look a lot different than the final spending plans school boards must approve,” by the June 30th state imposed deadline.

Most of these increases are due to act 9 of 2001 ( pa pension time bomb ) look it up it will enlighten you. Did the districts put 100% of there share into the pension fund the past ten years,or did they use the money for new schools we did not need? Octorara has increased millage rates faster than any other district in chester county from 22.540 mills in 2004 to 35.2 mills in 2011 a increase of over 55% making Octorara #1 in school taxes.
