Atglen Borough Council, ‘We Don’t Need Atglen Fire Company’

From WGAL 8 News this morning comes word that Atglen Borough Council has decided to source fire protection for the Borough’s 400 households from Lancaster County’s Christiana Fire Company rejecting the efforts of the Borough’s own 115 year old volunteer fire company.

Here is the full report:

CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. — The Atglen Fire Company will no longer provide fire services to residents of Atglen, Chester County.

The decision was made by the Borough Council on Monday night.

Residents will be covered by the Christiana Fire Company beginning March 1.

The Atglen Fire Company will merge with the Parksburg and Pomeroy fire companies.

The Atglen Examiner calls this new Atglen where almost all Borough services are outsourced “Atglianaburg” and has more on the decision here.

Stay tuned on this one.  The last word on this decision and the fire company consolidation initiative has not been spoken.

What happens in the future if Christiana Fire Company wants out of the contract? I wonder.
